"RESCUE helicopters could be based at Lydd for just ONE YEAR after the aviation minister backed a campaign to save Manston Airport. John Hayes says he has agreed for Bristow Helicopters to be based at Lydd for a year, instead of agreeing for the search-and-rescue crafts to be taken away from Manston permanently. However, if the future of Manston remains uncertain, then the Lydd Airport contract could be extended. He said: “I have been paying close attention to the future of Manston Airport throughout my time in the Department for Transport."
